Lahore (TP) July 6:  The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz on Saturday claimed to have unearthed a conspiracy that led to the conviction of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

Addressing a press conference along with PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Khawaja Asif and others, PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz Sharif claimed that accountability court judge Arshad Malik, who convicted Nawaz in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference, has confessed in a conversation with Nasir Butt, a fan of Nawaz Sharif, that before the conviction, some personnel called him to a place, showed him an objectionable old video of him and told him, “make a good decision or get ready for the consequences.”

In the video, the judge who convicted Nawaz Sharif was said to have shown an embarrassing personal film and was told to decide against Nawaz. The judge, according to the video, contemplated suicide before he gave in to the demand of the forces to convict Sharif.

According to the video, Judge Malik admitted that nothing was proven against Sharif, no corruption found but he was under pressure to send him to jail.

According to Mariam, Judge Malik called Nasir Butt to his home and told him that he had been going through nightmares and it was becoming hard for him to live with a burdened conscience and he has decided to reveal the truth that Sharif had nothing to do with corruption, no financial wrongdoing found and he had been convicted under sheer pressure and in violation of law without any solid proof against him.

Maryam Nawaz said that the truth was coming out with each passing day. Without naming anyone, she asked for how long these forces will blackmail, dictate and harass judges and manipulate things to get results according to their wishes.

Maryam said that the three-time prime minister was ousted from power through a well-hatched planned conspiracy and he was convicted without evidence. Maryam said that these hidden forces must stop playing with the people, their leaders, the very democratic system and let the country move ahead without manipulations and dictations and blackmailing and conspiracies.

At the start of the press conference, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif said that the presser aimed to present some “solid and irrefutable proofs” how Nawaz Sharif was convicted and who influenced the judgment.
