NIH gets 100% in Poliovirus Diagnostic Sequencing Proficiency Test
Islamabad (TP) July 7: The National Institute of Health (NIH) has scored 100 per cent in Poliovirus Diagnostic Sequencing Proficiency Test (PT), conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO), for the year 2019.
The NIH Regional Reference Laboratory for Poliomyelitis Eradication in the National Institute of Health (NIH) participated in an annual Poliovirus Diagnostic Sequencing Proficiency Test (PT) administered by the WHO. The laboratory received a proficiency testing (PT) panel of unknown samples to evaluate proficiency in poliovirus diagnostic.
According to the results, declared by the WHO, the NIH scored 100% in Poliovirus Diagnostic Sequencing Proficiency Test (PT) for the year 2019.
The WHO congratulated the NIH on the excellent and quality performance of the Regional Reference Laboratory for Poliomyelitis Eradication in the NIH that indicates the precision and accuracy level of the laboratory.
NIH Executive Director Maj-Gen Aamer Ikram said that the NIH was committed to providing quality diagnostic facilities for public health and shall maintain its standards in laboratory diagnostics. Besides laboratory support for the polio eradication programmes of Pakistan and Afghanistan, the NIH is also assisting other regional countries in the use of latest techniques to detect the virus and also do its genetic analysis, he said
