Lahore (TP) August 9, 2020: The Punjab government has ordered an inquiry into the violation of the terms of the no-objection certificate (NOC) that had been issued to model and actress Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed for shooting a music video in the historic Wazir Khan Masjid in Lahore.

The development comes after public outrage on social media over the recording of upcoming music video Qubool Hai. The teaser of the music video, which Saba Qamar shared on her Twitter, elicited scathing criticism from the public who demanded stern action again the actors’ duo for what they say desecrating the sanctity of the video.

#SabaQamar became the top trend on Twitter with many users even hurled invectives against the Pakistani actress for her what they said “brazenness and shameful act that should be out of the question in an Islamic state”.

Interestingly, most of the users on social media were unaware that the Punjab government had allowed the music video to be recorded inside the mosque under certain terms and conditions.

A spokesperson for the Punjab Government, Mashwani Azhar said that an inquiry has been ordered into the matter and strict action will be taken against those who had allowed the shooting of the video in the mosque in violation of the no-objection certificate.

“The Secretary Aquaf Government of Punjab has already directed director-general Auqaf to conduct an inquiry into the matter where the private company that sponsored the shooting of Saba Qamar, Bilal Saeed video violated the terms of NOC, which had been agreed upon with the administration,” Azhar said on Twitter.

According to the notification regarding the inquiry into the matter, the Pakistani models had been allowed to shoot inside the mosque in the condition that they would do nothing which could defile the sanctity of the mosque or any act that could dent the sentiments of the Pakistani public

Most of the social media users on Twitter drew a comparison between the British Royal couple Prince William and Princess Kate, who according to them went to Badshahi mosque in Lahore to listen to the recitation of Holy Quran while the Pakistani duo desecrated its sanctity by performing a dance on music in the mosque.

After the massive public hue and cry Saba Qamar said on Twitter: “The BTS video that’s been circulated on social media was just a circular movement to click stills for the poster of ‘Qabool’ depicting a happily married couple right after their Nikah. Despite this if we have unknowingly hurt anyone’s sentiments we apologise to you all with all our heart. Love & Peace!”
