PM directs GB authorities to open tourism
Chilas (TP) July 15, 2020: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the authorities in Gilgit-Baltistan to open tourism sector under the strict SOPs to avoid the spread of Covid-19.
Addressing a gathering in Chilas after visiting the Diamar-Bhasha dame site, the prime minister said that the tourism could not be held back for long and ultimately, it will have to be opened for domestic tourists.
The prime minister said that his government was working on tapping indigenous resources to pull Pakistan out the current economic malaise.
The prime minister said that due to imprudent policies of successive governments, Pakistan lagged far behind in human development. he said that only those nations progress where there is justice and resources are judiciously used. He said that Chinese progressed due to their futuristic approach and Pakistan must emulate them.
He said that the Diamer-Bhasha dam will produce cheap electricity and the people of Chilas will have free of cost electricity.
Imran Khan said that the dam construction will open a vista of job opportunities for the people of GB.
The prime minister said the reason behind the development of nations was their far-sightedness and leadership.
The Diamar-Bhasha will produce 4500 megawatts of electricity once completed by 2028.
Earlier, the authorities concerned briefed the prime minister about the dam site and the construction work.
